Town Run Watershed Celebrates Earth Fest with Hands-On Fun and Community Action

On Saturday, May 3rd, the Town Run Watershed Association was proud to table at Earth Fest in Shepherdstown, bringing water-focused fun and education to the community!

We hosted two interactive stations for visitors of all ages to enjoy:

In the Run – Parrot Feather Pull:

Kids and families jumped right into the stream to help remove parrot feather, an invasive aquatic plant that has taken root in Town Run. This plant may look pretty, but it impedes the flow of water and threatens local ecosystem.

We were thrilled to see so many enthusiastic helpers taking action for our watershed!

Join us every 2nd Saturday to continue the effort! We meet monthly to remove parrot feather and other invasive plants from Morgan Grove Park—and we’d love your help!

     Watershed Pinball Station:

Thanks to our amazing partners at the Cacapon Institute, we also featured their famous Watershed Pinball Machine, a crowd favorite that helps teach players about stormwater runoff in a fun and interactive way.

Visitors also received flyers highlighting our upcoming events.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, participated in the activities, and supported our mission to protect and restore Town Run. Don’t forget to register for our upcoming events and stay involved!

Together, we’re making a difference—one drop at a time.
