Shepherdstown, WV – On Thursday, April 18, 2024, environmental historian Dr. Keith Alexander will present Town Run’s Story, the relationship between Town Run, a crucial freshwater stream flowing through Shepherdstown, and its surrounding community. The talk, sponsored by the newly formed Town Run Watershed group and Historic Shepherdstown will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education at Shepherd University.
Dr. Alexander will take a look back into the historical, ecological, and cultural significance of Town Run which has shaped the fabric of Shepherdstown’s identity and influenced its development over time.
Of particular importance is Town Run’s recent designation as a secondary water source for the corporation of Shepherdstown, underscoring the critical role it plays in sustaining the local community. There will also be discussion about how community members can get involved in environmental stewardship of Town Run.
