Scout Troop 33 Pursue Champion of Nature Badge in Town Run

Topics & Issues

On Wednesday, May 7th, Town Run Watershed Association team members Kay and Trinity joined a local Scout Den for an engaging evening of environmental exploration and learning.

The Scouts were enthusiastic and curious participants as they dove into two exciting activities. The evening began with watching a short video about wastewater and where it goes after we flush or pour things down the drain. This opened up a great discussion about how our actions affect local waterways, wildlife, and drinking water sources.

Afterward, the group gathered for a fun and educational nature scavenger hunt, where the group explored the outdoors to find natural materials like soil, rocks, and fallen branches—resources that help make many of the everyday materials we see and use.

Kay and Trinity wrapped up the evening with a Q&A session, encouraging the Scouts to think about how they can help keep our streams and storm drains clean—from never flushing wipes or trash to helping clear leaves off drains at home. They also discussed possible future service projects that the Scouts and Town Run Watershed Association can collaborate on together to protect and care for our local environment.

We were thrilled to be invited and inspired by the Scouts’ excitement for nature and water conservation. Thank you to the Den leader, Siri, for including us!
